"It is very important (for throwing velocity) to have the front of your foot facing the oncoming runner and your target, in the same way that a pitcher opens up his front foot while striding toward the plate. Opening the front foot allows you to create maximum throwing torque by allowing your bottom half to open-up, while your top half remains closed as long as possible.This allows for the strongest possible throw, particularly if throwing from an elevated position."
