What is the skill level of the players who attend the Pro Ball Baseball Clinic?

We extend a warm welcome to players of all skill levels and playing experience, ages 13 and up.

All you need is a true love of the game and a sincere desire to improve your baseball skills and gain a better working knowledge of the game. Whether you now play in a league, coach youth baseball or just want to get back into playing baseball, the Pro Ball Baseball Clinic is the place for you! Over 4 days, you will receive

one-on-one instruction from some of today’s best Major League Coaches. It’s a baseball experience unlike any other.

Many of our attendees compete in adult baseball leagues throughout the country (MSBL, NABA, Roy Hobbs, Ponce de Leon, etc.). There is a wide range of playing abilities and ages. Some guys haven’t played baseball since high school but want to join an adult league and are looking to brush up on their fundamentals. Other attendees played college baseball way back when. Others have not played baseball since they were in Little League. Every year we get a few participants who are parents and youth coaches. They attend to absorb as much baseball knowledge as possible to pass it on to their youngsters. We even have a few high school and college baseball coaches who want to better their communication skills and gain more insight into the finer aspects of the game.

The Pro Ball Baseball Clinic started in 2002. The next clinic, November 21-24, 2019 at the Pittsburgh Pirates facility in Bradenton, FL, will be our 20th (for a couple of years we held 2 clinics per year). Over the years, we have grown steadily, mostly by word of mouth. We do very little traditional advertising. We get an enormous amount of repeat players every year. Pro Ball has become much more than just 4 days of great baseball instruction – it’s become a reunion of camaraderie, friendship and love of the game.

Over the past several years, attendees have started bringing their sons to the Pro Ball Baseball Clinic. Spending 4 days on the diamond with your son, while being taught by Major League coaches, is an amazing life experience. If you are a dad or a teenage player, please view the father-son video on the home page. We’d love to have you join us.

The bottom line is, there is no need to worry about “not being good enough” to join us at the Pro Ball Baseball Clinic. Do not be intimidated by the fact that Major League coaches will be teaching you. You will be amazed at the patience of the coaches and their sincere desire to make you a better player. These gentlemen are some of the nicest, most dedicated and passionate teachers you will encounter. You have to experience the clinic for yourself to know what I am talking about.

The next Pro Ball Baseball Clinic is November 21 – November 24, 2019 at the Pittsburgh Pirates spring training complex in Bradenton, FL.
Our clinics are fashioned after actual Major League spring training routines, with rotating hitting stations, tee work, numerous hitting drills, live BP, situational BP and machine BP. You will probably take more swings in your 4 days at the Pro Ball Baseball Clinic than you have in the past 4 years!

On defense, the coaches focus on individual and team defense drills. Pitchers will work one-on-one with Major League pitching coaches to improve mechanics, command and pitch grips. Catchers will do blocking and agility drills with Major League catching Instructors.

Under the guidance of our Major League coaching staff, you will leave the Pro Ball Baseball Clinic a better, more knowledgeable player.

If you have any questions, feel free to call me, Dr. John Rubinow, at 323-333-8798

All discounts will be taken off of your final balance due. They are not in lieu of the 2 required deposits.

Do You Have To Stick To One Position The Entire Clinic?

Absolutely not. In fact, we encourage you to try different positions and expand your knowledge of the game. You will get to play all the positions you want. At the clinic, you can experience playing every position on the diamond. Maybe you’ve never caught or pitched before. Here’s your chance to learn from Major League coaches.

Please select your favorite 2 positions on the registration form. That will help us organize our Day 1 defensive rotations.

Can I Request A Roommate?

Yes. If you want to room with a certain player, let us know on the registration form. All efforts will be made to honor your request. In order to avoid confusion, please coordinate with your desired roommate prior to completing the form.

If you snore (you know who you are), please don’t sign up for a double room. It isn’t fair to your roommate.

If you snore, sign up for a single room. If single rooms are not available, you will be placed in a double by yourself.

What Equipment Should I Bring?

The Pro Ball Baseball Clinic is NOT a fantasy camp.

The main purpose of Pro Ball is to improve your baseball skills and learn to play the game the right way from Major League coaches.

We do not provide uniforms. It is suggested that you bring two pairs of baseball pants, a jock and cup, a couple of baseball undershirts, at least one baseball shirt and a pair of spikes. In addition, bring sneakers or turf shoes for hitting in the indoor cages. Please do not wear metal spikes in the cages.

All your baseball-related laundry will be done on a daily basis. Bring as many gloves as you would like, depending on what positions you want to work on. Catchers should bring their own catching gear.

Bring your own bats (metal and wood are fine) and your own batting helmet if you have one. The Pirates also provide batting helmets for us.

The Pirates clubhouse attendants sell professional grade wood bats for only $35 each. This lumber is a much better grade than you can buy in a sporting goods store. $35 for a pro lumber is a steal. In the past attendees who are affiliated with bat companies have brought bats to sell at a discount.

What Is The Cancellation Policy?

Due to the extraordinary nature of this clinic, the commitments made to the Major League Coaches and the spring training facility, your initial $500 deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE. There are no exceptions.

Should you cancel the Pro Ball Baseball before 10/01/19, any payments made after the initial deposit will be credited towards the very next scheduled Pro Ball Baseball Clinic. There are no credit “roll overs” past the next clinic.

IMPORTANT: NO credits or refunds will be given for cancellations to the Pro Ball Baseball Clinic made after October 1, 2018. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.

Cancellations must be received in writing (certified mail is strongly advised).

Cancellations should be mailed to:
John Rubinow
50480 Spyglass Hill Drive
La Quinta, CA 92253

If you are concerned about being unable to attend for any reason, it is strongly suggested you look into buying travel insurance. It is not known if travel insurance is available for this unique baseball event.

What Is The Typical Daily Schedule?

Please see home page for the typical daily schedule. We change schedules daily. The 1st day we usually cover offense and defense from 9:30-12:30 but do offensive in the mornings from 9:30-12:30. Half the players do offense, the other half do defense. 1.5 hrs later, we flip flop groups. We break for lunch, then do individual and team defense for an hour, then situational games (sim games), live games or break into groups for extra work. We stop around 5:00 pm

Have Other Questions?

I would be happy to answer any questions you may have by phone or by email.

Call my cell at 323-333-8798 or email me at nomarfan@pacbell.net.

Thank you for your interest in the Pro Ball Baseball Clinic.

Does The Clinic Use Video?

Yes. The Pro Ball Baseball Clinic uses a state-of-the-art video system to record your hitting mechanics. Your video will be analyzed by one of the hitting coaches in a one-on-one session and emailed to you. You will have a great take-home piece of “baseball evidence” to watch again and again during the season. You may also bring a USB thumb drive to record your sessions. In 2019, we hope to video tape defense and pitching as well.

Can We Take Video At Pro Ball?

Personal videos may not be taken inside Pirate City (e.g., meeting rooms, clubhouse, trainers room, baseball fields, practice areas, hitting cages, pitching mounds, etc.). This policy will be strictly enforced.

The Pro Ball Baseball Clinic is a special 4-day experience with Major League Baseball Coaches. During meetings (including lunch and dinner), coaches may discuss topics which are considered “for clubhouse ears only.” WHAT YOU SEE AND HEAR AT PRO BALL, STAYS AT PRO BALL.

I have guaranteed our coaches the privacy and respect that is due them. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Any and all personal videos taken during the Pro Ball Baseball Clinic are considered property of Voice Doctor, Inc. and may not be uploaded to the Internet without express written consent of Voice Doctor, Inc or John Rubinow.

Are There Trainers At The Clinic?

Yes. We have always had certified athletic trainers at the Pro Ball Baseball Clinic. These gentlemen have extensive experience treating professional baseball players and their injuries. The FL clinic will be staffed with a least 2 certified trainers.

You will be in great hands with our professional trainers. You will have a great time at Pro Ball, but you will also be taking a lot of swings, fielding a lot of ground balls, fly balls and doing drill work you may not be accustomed to. Do not be surprised if your body is sore after the first day or two.

Participants at the FL clinic will have access to professional training rooms with ice tubs and whirlpools. Whether it is a blister on your hand, a tight shoulder or hamstring … use the trainers! They are there to get you back on the field so you can enjoy your time at Pro Ball to the fullest.

How Do I Make Travel Arrangements?

We will start bright and early on Thursday, November 21, 2019 (approx 7 AM).

If you are not a local, you should arrive at Pirate City on Wednesday, November 20. Your hotel rooms are covered for 4 nights (Nov 20, 21, 22, 23).

Pirate City Information:
1701 27th St E, Bradenton, FL 34208
(941) 747-3031

If flying, you have 2 choices of airports: Tampa International (TPA) and Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ).

TPA is about a 50-minute drive to Pirate City. TPA will have more flights from which to choose and will probably have better prices than if you fly into the much smaller SRQ airport.

SRQ is about 15 minutes away.

The Pirates have shuttles that will pick you up at either airport for a very reasonable fee (please call me at 323-333-8798 for details). There are also exclusive Super Shuttle Vans that will take you directly to Pirate City.

Once I have everyone’s flight schedules, I will try and group players by arrival times so you can share vans and cut travel expenses.

Please email me your flight schedules as soon as you book them.
