Experience the Camp

I started the Pro Ball Baseball Clinic in 2002 because there was no instructional camp for the adult player. I searched the internet for adult baseball instruction and came up empty. The web was filled with Fantasy Camps and instructional camps for kids, but there was nothing for the adult player who wanted to improve his baseball skills.

What started out as a just a pipe dream in 2002 – 17 players, a couple of Major League coaches and one field, has grown into an incredibly well-organized instructional camp with 10 Major League coaches, multiple rotating offensive and defensive stations, video analysis and numerous live BP pitchers.

The Pro Ball Baseball Clinic has primarily spread by word of mouth. Other than MSBL’s HardBall Magazine, we do little advertising. Fortunately, we haven’t had to. This 4-day baseball experience is so incredibly special, we have a high rate of returning players every year. Plus, many first-timers come back the following year and bring a friend or two.

An instructional baseball clinic once designed specifically for the adult player has evolved into something even more special. Over the past few years, guys started bringing their high school and college-aged sons and there began the magical mixture of youth, middle age and the true passion for baseball. The father-son aspect brought a whole new dimension to the clinic. In fact, those high school kids were the inspiration behind the Advanced Skills Clinic (see below)

The Pro Ball baseball Clinic is now for anyone over the age of 14 who wants to become a better baseball player or baseball coach. It’s that simple. This isn’t a fantasy camp. Everyone comes here because they want to learn from some of the best baseball coaches in the world.

Please don’t be intimidated by the name “Pro Ball.”  This clinic is not designed for those who are hoping to “get discovered” by the Major League coaches and sign a professional contract. This is not a tryout camp. This is not a showcase. This is not a fantasy camp. Whether you are a player, a coach, or a dad who wants to teach his kids how to play the game the right way, this clinic is ALL about learning and becoming better.

What makes Pro Ball different from any other instructional camp or fantasy camp is the personalized instruction from the Major League coaches. Our emphasis is on teaching you how to improve your baseball skills, no matter what your skill level. Over 4 days, Major League coaches teach you the fundamentals and some of the finer aspects of the game – hitting, pitching, defense, proper throwing mechanics, bunting, base running, and the mental side to the game.

If you join us, you may get the privilege of working one-on-one with Major League coaches like Kevin Long, Yankees hitting coach, Mike Butcher, Angels pitching coach, Rick Adair, Orioles pitching coach, Alan Trammell, Diamonbacks bench coach, Don Wakamatsu, Blue Jays bench coach, Rob Picciolo, Angels bench coach, Jim Presley, Orioles hitting coach, and Brook Jacoby, Reds hitting coach. Its truly an outstanding teaching staff. The coaches come to Pro Ball because they love to teach. They will work with you from 8 in the morning until the sun goes down. If you are willing to work on your game, they will work right beside you.

We are often asked why there is only one clinic and why there isn’t one during the summer months. The answer is the Major League coaches are working from mid-February until the end of September (and later if their teams get into post-season play). In addition, with instructional league, the Arizona Fall League and various senior league tournaments, the Major League spring training fields are very difficult to reserve. The bottom line is, our operating window is very tight and the clinics must take place during the off season.

The next Pro Ball Baseball Clinic will be held January 10-13, 2013 at the San Diego Padres spring training complex in Peoria, AZ. Over the 4 days, we cover all aspects of the game in detail. Players of all skills levels are invited to attend. You will be amazed at your improvement over the 4 days!

If you’re currently a player in MSBL, NABA, Roy Hobbs, Ponce de Leon or another adult league and you want to be a better baseball player, this clinic is designed especially for you. If you’re a little league or high school coach or you just want to teach your kid proper baseball fundamentals, the Pro Ball Baseball Clinic is perfect for you as well. If you haven’t played in a while and want to get back into baseball, the Pro Ball Baseball Clinic is an excellent way to refresh your knowledge.
